Alan has been the Managing Director of the Jape Group of Companies since the late 80’s and has been instrumental in bringing the Group from its humble beginnings in Timor-Leste to its international standing with the development of Jape Homemaker Village in Darwin and Timor Plaza in Dili, Timor-Leste.

Alan has successfully grown the Group’s diverse portfolio in its property development, construction, retail and hospitality arms.  He continues to lead the Group with new developments planned in Darwin and Timor-Leste.

Alan has served as the President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory Australia (CCCNTA) and now he is made as a lifetime Honorary President of the CCCNTA.

Jape Group Australia was founded by Alan’s father - MrOriginal Jape Shop in Darwin Jape Kong Su in Darwin, Northern Territory in 1976 and it is family-owned.  From the success of commercial property projects in the Darwin city centre in the 1980's the Jape Group prospered and progressed to the development of the Jape Homemaker Village in 1989.

Situated on over 63,000 sqm of land in a prime location central to the CBD and Darwin's northern suburbs, the Jape Homemaker Village today is a shopping destination accommodating a synergy of businesses.  Specialty outlets through to large national retailers provide visitors to the centre all manner of goods and services in keeping with the outdoors and lifestyle of the Top End.

Maintaining strong ties with Timor-Leste, the Group is again involved in property development with the multi storey mixed use known as Timor Plaza @ Dili Central, creating a new city centre project in the capital city of Dili.  Dili Central continues to expand with the latest development of CBD 10 commenced in early 2022.

Since its conception, the Group has experienced solid growth.  In addition to the strength of its property development portfolio, Jape Group Australia features strongly in the retail sector and owns the Jape Furnishing Superstore, Jape Commercial Interiors and Forty Winks stores at the Jape Homemaker Village.
