International Students Successfully Study in Darwin

Study in Darwin is Rewarding

My name is Tom and I am originally from China and currently study Master of Secondary Teaching at Charles Darwin University. There is a lot of social life you can get involved with at CDU. When I come to the orientation each semester, a diversity of student clubs are available and open to all CDU students, such as CDU Student Ambassador Programme, Practice Presentation Club etc.

I decided to come to Australia to study majors related to education. I think studying in Darwin is a good idea because it is a multicultural city with a variety of communities from diversified cultural and Indigenous backgrounds. Fantastic markets, tropical sceneries and events have always been attracting me, such a hangout lover haha.

Before I came to Darwin, I had been staying in Melbourne. Darwin is not as large as Melbourne, it is easy to connect with different people and communities through attending events and getting involved with volunteering and employment organisations.

Chinese Student Loves Tropical Darwin

I am currently working as an Adult Migrant English Programme (AMEP) teacher at STEPS Group Australia in Darwin. My students usually are adults who have immigrated to Australia from their home country but need to learn functional English for life and work.

Australia is a very inclusive country, in my opinion. You can see a variety of groups from backgrounds of multiculturalism, multiethnicity, LGBTQ, special needs etc., well supported by people, the government and a range of organisations. Therefore, I would love to dedicate myself to local communities in Australia in my life.

I hope to teach in secondary schools or adult learning institutions after graduation. I would like to teach Mandarin and history as these two subjects are very interesting to me, which I look forward my students to loving as well.
