Darwin Convention Centre
Darwin
The Darwin Convention Centre is a world-class conference and business events venue and the centrepiece of the Darwin Waterfront Precinct. Managed by global venue management specialist ASM Global, the Centre hosts hundreds of business events every year and offers delegates' space to think, opportunities to learn, with time to network and make authentic connections.
With 23,000sqm of space that includes a 1200-seat tiered auditorium, (which divides into two), 4000sqm of exhibition halls, (which can divide into three), 225 exhibition booth spaces and seven concurrent meeting spaces, the Centre has built a global reputation as a world-class venue.
Every year, the Darwin Convention Centre hosts hundreds of successful business and community events for both Australian and international clients: 1,200 delegate conferences, high-profile business summits, interactive public and trade exhibitions, awards ceremonies and gala dinners, themed outdoor cocktail functions, concerts by touring performing artists, exciting sporting events, glamorous fashion parades and bespoke intimate dinners.
Since opening in 2008, the Centre and its team of professionals have built a reputation for delivering outstanding events, first-class dining and excellent customer service. The Centre is within strolling distance of five-star hotels and resorts and some of Australia’s best restaurants.
As the closest Australian convention centre to South East Asia (about four hours flying time to Singapore, and just two and half hours from Denpasar), the Darwin Convention Centre is increasingly appealing to Australian and Australasian associations who are choosing Darwin as a convenient central meeting point to attract both Australian and South-East Asian delegates.
And the Top End’s world-leading expertise in fields like oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, international education, health, tropical knowledge and agribusiness gives clients access to local industry experts who can guest speak at their event and host field visits to educational research centres, industry sites or remote communities.
The Centre’s team of event planners and technology specialists work closely with clients to create events that match the client’s purpose, theme and budget. The Centre’s AV, provided by Dreamedia, is cutting edge, with interactive multimedia technology, wireless internet, networking solutions and digital signage.
Darwin itself is a vibrant, modern city with a thriving business culture based on innovation and enterprise. With year-round tropical weather and a more relaxed pace, Darwin gives delegates the opportunity to leave behind the hustle and bustle of a big city to focus on the business at hand, with space to think and time to learn, network and make authentic connections.
For pre- and post-event activities, it doesn’t get much better than the Top End of Australia. First-time delegates often say Darwin’s unique experiences are some of the best they’ve ever had. Authentic Aboriginal art and culture, dinner cruises on the harbour, a strong military history, crocodiles, barramundi fishing, exquisite pearl and crocodile leather boutiques, beach markets, helicopter tours, an open-air cinema and a wave pool are all within five minutes of the city.
Darwin is the ideal starting point to explore further afield into the Top End, such as Litchfield and Kakadu national parks that have some of Australia’s most stunning World-Heritage landscapes and waterfalls, clear swimming holes, bushwalks and hundreds of species of birds.
