Introduction

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using or signing up to the event calendar and International Business Directory. City of Darwin reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Definitions

City of Darwin means the local government of Darwin municipality. 
You mean any person or organisation who accesses the international business directory and event calendar or registers online to receive emails and notifications.
Personal information as defined in the Information Act means “Council information from which a person’s identity is apparent or is reasonably able to be ascertained.” 
This may include:

  • Your name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your address or location at this time
  • Your email address
  • Your telephone number
  • A recording of your telephone call with us
  • Details about your interaction with us
  • Details of your account payable
  • Your payment details
  • Employment details

International Business Directory refers to a directory of businesses and organisations from the Darwin municipality and its Sister and Friendship Cities.

International Business Directory 

  1. City of Darwin provides the platform for businesses and organisation with good faith. City of Darwin is not liable to you in respect of any direct, indirect consequential loss or damage by the information provided in the International Business Directory. 
  2. Your use of the business directory is at your sole risk and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. City of Darwin does not warrant the accuracy of content.
  3. Business and organisations from Darwin municipality and its sister/friendship cities are free to be listed on the Discover Darwin website. City of Darwin’s 11 sister/friendship cities including Ambon, Anchorage, Dili, Haikou, Kalymnos, Milikapiti, Denpasar, Guangzhou, Honolulu, Qingdao, and Santa Cruz.
  4. The businesses and organisations are responsible for any copyright issues of their content and images submitted to the Discover Darwin website. City of Darwin will remove the listing if there is any copyright dispute. 
  5. City of Darwin will review your submission and may approve or reject your listing. 
  6. As a way to keep business listings and opportunities relevant, business listings will be removed at the end of each calendar year, commencing in 2022, unless City of Darwin is otherwise advised of a desire to remain listed. Reminders will be sent to businesses in November.
  7. The business or organisation must be a credible company or individual with an established track record of business responsibility. 
  8. Upon approval of the listing, you will be notified by email.
  9. You may request in writing the removal of your listing from the Directory at any time. City of Darwin may remove the listing from the Directory without notice at any time and for any reason.
  10. The business must take responsibility for the content, website and any goods and services provided. Image files should be in JPG or PNG formats. Although this arrangement may offer exposure of an organisation’s corporate logo or name, it does not and must not involve or imply an endorsement of the products or services by City of Darwin. 
  11. City of Darwin does not warrant the accuracy, adequacy, completeness or timeliness of the content on this website or any 3rd party linked website or resource. 
  12. Please be aware that this directory is ‘as is’ and does not extend any entitlements to any other advertising or promotion through City of Darwin through any other channel. Alterations to content are restricted to one per year.
  13. City of Darwin will contact you by email or other communication channels from your listings for any business inquiries from the Discover Darwin website. 
  14. City of Darwin may send you the information and activities that you may be considered as the appropriate audience. 
     

Event Calendar 

 

  1. City of Darwin provides the event calendar for the event listings and sharing information on the activities and events in Darwin. 
  2. Events listed on the event calendar are sourced from various public sources as deemed appropriate by the City of Darwin. All events published on the event calendar have been approved for inclusion by the City of Darwin.
  3. City of Darwin does not warrant the accuracy, adequacy, completeness or timeliness of the content on this website or any 3rd party linked website or resource. 
  4. Ciy of Darwin takes no responsibility for any deliberate or inadvertent inaccuracies in event listings or any information contained within the calendar.
  5. All information may be changed, supplemented, deleted or updated without notice at the sole discretion of City of Darwin.
  6. City of Darwin disclaims all warranties, either express or implied, statutory or otherwise, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, non-infringement of third parties' rights, and fitness for a particular purpose.
  7. Your use of the event calendar is at your sole risk and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. City of Darwin does not warrant that the event calendar will meet your specific requirements.
  8. The event calendar will not be used for any of the following purposes:
    • To contact You regarding any issue apart from the purpose of the event calendar.
    • To contact You to offer any services from a 3rd party company.
       

Collection of Personal Information

Council collects and manages personal information to provide services to the community and to conduct local government functions. The community provides personal information such as name and contact details in order to access services, ask for help, make payments and provide feedback.

Council manages personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Principles (IPP) of the Information Act. The IPPs are a roadmap for lawful and secure collection, storage, use and disclosure of personal Information by Council. We also manage personal information in accordance with the Local Government Act, which requires us to protect our Elected Members and staff from undue intrusion into their private affairs.
